Seat Time Waiver
The Michigan Department of Education is encouraging schools throughout Michigan to apply for waivers in relation to the Pupil Accounting Manual. This would allow for new learning options and opportunities for students utilizing online experiences. The following information will assist a district in formulating a request for waiver(s). CyberEd Schools is available to help schools with this process.

4. Seat Time Waivers
(a) Verify that the pupil was enrolled in and participating in courses that
were earning credit toward a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
(b) Verify that the pupil was scheduled for a specified number of
recognized courses for which the pupil’s performance was being
evaluated.
(c) Verify that a certified teacher was designated as the mentor teacher.
(d) Verify attendance on count day was confirmed and the method
documented by an online or an onsite instructor.
(e) Verify that the pupil did not generate more FTE per course than would
have been generated by a pupil in a traditional classroom setting.
