What you need! You need access to a computer with high speed internet connection, DSL is a minimum. You must have a valid E-mail address, a printer, and a three ring binder or folder to keep your papers in. You will also need support programs such as Java, Shockwave, Flash player, Quick Time, Windows Media player, and Mozilla Fire Fox browser. You most likely have these installed on your computer. If not, you can download them free of charge. When using the online text book you can do a system check to make sure you have the latest versions.
Read directions! The virtual classroom is your source for directions for all your classes. The Virtual Classroom: http://cybered.mrooms.net , this site gives you the directions for the assignments and steps to take for successful completion of each Module/Chapter. Print each document as you move through the steps. Place a copy of the document in your folder/3 ring binder for the course. Follow the directions carefully and you will be more successful and the class will be more enjoyable.
Time Management: It is extremely important to set up a daily schedule for
work on each class and stick to it! You will find a suggested week-by-week time line in the virtual classroom. Try to stick to the time line or better yet, move ahead of it.
The weekend is not a good time to plan to do a lot of work as we all have other things we like to do. Schoolwork planned for the weekend is often forgotten.
Keep a folder for each course: You should keep a folder for each course you are enrolled in. This will allow you to keep track of important information such as usernames, passwords and other important documents such as the syllabus. Start with the Welcome Letter that you will receive from your teachers. We suggest you print and put it into the folder for that particular course.
Communication: You must be willing to communicate with each and every teacher when you have questions. We would suggest at least two emails per week for all classes even if it's only to check in. You may be asked to email assignments to your teacher. It would be wise to type your assignments in a Word document and attach it to an email. If you choose to type your answers directly into the email, either print the email and save it or copy and past your answers into a Word document and save it. This will allow you to keep a record of your work in case the email fails (put a printed copy in your course folder).
E-mail your assignments to your teacher. The classes are designed with a required two assignments minimum prior to taking a Modular test. That means your teacher will not assign your Modular test until you have completed the chapter assignments for the module.
Book-Marks: Use book-marks for the sites; virtual classroom and online textbook, you will be using for your class. With some browsers, Firefox / IE7, they will even save your username and passwords. This will make access easier and faster.
